The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of more rain and thunderstorms during the day. IMD issues rain alertAccording to the latest IMD update, moderate rain is expected at many places across Delhi, with heavy to extremely heavy rainfall possible at isolated locations. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are also likely. A red alert covers all 11 districts of the national capital -- Central Delhi, East Delhi, New Delhi, North Delhi, North East Delhi, North West Delhi, Shahdara, South Delhi, South East Delhi, South West Delhi and West Delhi. The IMD has also warned of moderate rain at many places, with heavy to extremely heavy rainfall possible at isolated locations. The weather conditions come a day after intense showers brought several parts of Delhi-NCR to a standstill. Heavy rain on Monday Gurugram has been particularly affected, with severe waterlogging and traffic congestion. The administration advised corporate offices, government and private schools and other institutions to allow work from home on Tuesday, while schools were advised to shift to online classes. Rain data Delhi has also recorded above-normal rainfall at several observatories. Till August 24, Safdarjung recorded 246.2 mm against the normal 191.1 mm, an excess of 29%, while Palam recorded 227.2 mm, 28% above normal.
