Data Center: Mega Project Worth Over 1 Billion MAD Planned in Nouaceur
Rabat – Nexus Core Systems, together with its international partners, has selected the outskirts of Casablanca to build a next-generation data center dedicated to artificial intelligence, representing a massive $1.2 billion investment that underscores Morocco’s growing technological ambitions.
The project highlights Morocco’s increasing role in advanced digital infrastructure. The data center is designed to reach a target capacity of 500 megawatts and will run entirely on renewable energy, with TAQA Morocco providing the clean power supply.
Naver Cloud has been appointed to operate the platform, while NVIDIA will supply state-of-the-art processors, including the Blackwell GB200 GPUs, central to AI architectures. The investment structure is supported by Lloyds Capital, forming an international collaboration that combines technology, energy, and finance.
Originally scheduled for early 2026 with an initial 40 MW phase, the project has experienced slight delays but remains a landmark development. It represents a new stage in Morocco’s ambition to host large-scale infrastructures capable of supporting the expansion of artificial intelligence, positioning the country as a regional technology hub.

The choice of Nouaceur is strategic. The area offers proximity to Europe and direct access to multiple submarine fiber-optic cables, a major advantage for connectivity and low-latency data operations. Moroccan authorities have anticipated this orientation: the Casablanca-Settat Regional Council approved the allocation of 666 hectares to host major industrial projects, including this high-profile data center.
In parallel, a 476-hectare industrial acceleration zone was inaugurated in Ouled Saleh, specifically targeting advanced technologies. These initiatives reflect a clear intent: to adapt land offerings and build a competitive ecosystem capable of attracting a growing share of international digital investment.
Beyond the infrastructure itself, the project represents a broader vision: establishing Morocco as a key player in the global economy driven by artificial intelligence. Leveraging high-level technological partnerships and proactive territorial planning, the Kingdom is taking a decisive step toward upgrading its technological landscape far beyond traditional offshoring activities.
This $1.2 billion megaproject marks a strategic turning point, setting Morocco on course to become a leading African technology hub by 2030, with AI and digital innovation at the forefront of its economic development.
