By SABRINA PENTY, FOREIGN NEWS REPORTER Published: 22:54, 2 May 2026 | Updated: 22:54, 2 May 2026 A cyclist father who was seriously injured in a hit-and-run in Birmingham last week has died.  Thomas Brown, 29, who has been described by his loved ones as 'the kindest soul', was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital after he was knocked off his bike on Heath Way, Hodge Hill, on April 26.  He died earlier this week, West Midlands Police confirmed, and leaves behind his partner Emma and two-year-old son Riley.  The driver remains on the run, but cops have recovered a vehicle suspected of being involved in the incident, and forensic investigations are set to take place.  Police are asking to speak to anyone who might have any information and who may have seen a black Estate type car which failed to stop at the scene at around 7.45pm, and was last seen driving towards Coleshill Road. Thomas' mother, Tobi Brown, has set up a GoFundMe to raise money for the funeral costs.  Tributes on social media have described him as a 'lovely and kind lad' who was 'always willing to help anyone.'  Speaking to local news outlet BirminghamLive, Ms Brown said: 'He was on his bike going to meet his partner and, from what we've been told, the car jumped the kerb at speed and knocked into the back of him. 'He had catastrophic head injuries and he died of his injuries. Thomas Brown, 29, (pictured) died this week after being knocked off his bike in a  road collision on April 26 'It's a life gone, and no one has been held accountable for it.' Det Sgt Adam Alcock, from our Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: 'We have specialist officers supporting the man's family during this very difficult time. 'We're appealing for people who may have information which can assist us to please get in touch. 'Collisions on the road have devastating consequences and my priority is to get answers for his family.  'I know from CCTV that there were other cars and witnesses at the location at the time of the collision and I would appeal for those people to make contact with us.'
