Crossbow horror at Uni of Surrey as man in 50s 'fighting for life' after being shot by 'former student'
A man is fighting for his life after being shot with a crossbow on a university campus in Surrey. Emergency services were called to the University of Surrey’s Manor Park Student Village in Guildford shortly after 10am on Tuesday following reports that a man had been seriously injured, the Daily Star reports. Police have arrested a 21‑year‑old Saudi national, reportedly a former student at the university, on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in custody. The victim, a man in his 50s, was taken to hospital, where he is in a critical condition. A huge police and ambulance presence remains at the scene, though access to the nearby Royal Surrey County Hospital has not been affected. “I appreciate that this incident will cause concern amongst our local communities, and I can reassure that we are not looking for anyone else in relation to this incident," said Surrey Police Chief Superintendent Jon Groenen. "We are working closely with the university as our investigation progresses. The suspect was detained at the scene shortly after the incident and an investigation is now underway to establish the circumstances of the assault. “The victim remains in a serious condition in hospital and his next of kin are aware and are being supported by officers.”المصدر: ويلز أونلاين | Source: ويلز أونلاين
