The then Labour leader was soon photographed midbite, and the rather unflattering image became one of the most famous images of its era.
“I want to take you back to May 2014 with a coalition government led by David Cameron. Ed Miliband is the leader of the Labour opposition,” Cristo began.
“It's the day before the local elections, and Ed Miliband has gone to New Covent Garden Flower Market to outline his plan for small businesses. What could possibly go wrong?
“Well, the answer is my dad, because this week it was 12 years ago that my dad sold Ed that bacon sandwich.
“Who can forget the picture which went around the world of the awkward, almost inhuman way he was pictured eating it, gurning and not looking particularly well during that particular snack? It's actually become one of the most famous pictures ever taken of a politician.
“It could be said it was my dad who lost Ed that election, which robbed him of the right to be Prime Minister,” the GB News star mused.
