Commuter chaos as one of major Sydney train lines is shut down due to emergency repairs

Urgent repairs on overhead wiring at Chatswood station have halted all city-bound trains on Tuesday morning. The issue has caused widespread disruptions on the T1 North Shore and Western Line, T9 Northern Line, the Central Coast and Newcastle Lines in both directions. 'Repair crews are on site and working to restore train services as soon as possible,' a Sydney Trains alert stated. 'If you are travelling towards the City you will need to make your own way to the nearest Metro Station or alternatively catch an outbound Hornsby train and interchange at Chatswood for the Metro to complete your journey.' Limited buses are replacing trains between Gordon and Chatswood in both directions.  T1 North Shore Line train services from the city are running at a reduced capacity. Commuters are urged to allow extra travel time. 'You may also consider using local buses or make your own travel arrangements if you are able to do so,' an alert read.
