Shoppers in NSW will see the most changes this year. Under the Retail Trading Amendment (Anzac Day Trading Hours) Act 2024, major retailers have to remain closed until 1pm on Saturday. This includes Woolworths, Coles, Aldi, Bunnings, Kmart, Target, Big W, Westfield shopping centres, Dan Murphy's, BWS, Liquorland and Vintage Cellars. Takeaway alcohol will still be available from pubs, clubs and hotels. Essential services like chemists, news agencies, petrol stations, cafes and small shops with four or fewer employees can stay open as normal. In Victoria, retailers will be closed until 1pm on Anzac Day, according to the Shop Trading Reform Act 1996 (VIC) and Anzac Day Act 1958 (VIC). Similar to NSW, exempted shops include convenience stores and small shops.
