Coles, Woolworths, Liquorland, BWS, Kmart, Bunnings: What shops are open this Anzac weekend?

Under the Retail Trading Amendment (Anzac Day Trading Hours) Act 2024, major retailers have to remain closed until 1pm on Saturday. This includes Woolworths, Coles, Aldi, Bunnings, Kmart, Target, Big W, Westfield shopping centres, Dan Murphy's, BWS, Liquorland and Vintage Cellars.  Takeaway alcohol will still be available from pubs, clubs and hotels. Essential services like chemists, news agencies, petrol stations, cafes and small shops with four or fewer employees can stay open as normal. In Victoria, retailers will be closed until 1pm on Anzac Day, according to the Shop Trading Reform Act 1996 (VIC) and Anzac Day Act 1958 (VIC). Similar to NSW, exempted shops include convenience stores and small shops. It's expected to be another massive Anzac weekend across Australia  Woolworths trading hours on Anzac Day will vary from state to state In Queensland, general retail trading is banned on Anzac Day, but again chemists, petrol stations, cafes and smaller grocery stores can open without limits. Major retailers like Coles, Woolworths, Bunnings and Kmart will be closed.  There will be major changes across South Australia this year, with suburban supermarkets allowed to open for the first time from midday on Anzac Day. In Western Australia, retail shops will be closed all day, including most major chains. Smaller retail shops won’t face trading restrictions and can open at any time. Again, chemists and hardware stores will be unaffected as will restaurants and cafes. In Tasmania, most businesses will be closed until 12.30pm on Anzac Day except pharmacies, newsagents, bottle shops, service stations and restaurants. Smaller shops can trade if they employ fewer than 10 staff. The ACT and Northern Territory residents face the least disruption, with trading hours relaxed. Major supermarkets and retailers can open all day. The majority of major chains will open as normal on Sunday and Monday.
