China in springtime: UAE-China dialogue highlights growing partnership

A high-profile dialogue in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday brought together officials, business leaders and scholars from China and the UAE to showcase deepening ties between the two nations.

In a video address, Shen Haixiong, head of China Media Group, said China's newly approved 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030) is a "blueprint for high-quality development" and a new "list of opportunities" for the world. Citing a CGTN global survey, he said "over 80% of respondents praised China's high-quality economic development as setting the pace for global economic growth."

Chinese Ambassador to the UAE Zeng Jixin noted that relations between the two countries are at an all-time high, citing strong trade growth and expanding cooperation. Dubai Consul General Ou Boqian pointed to visible signs of deepening ties.

 "More Chinese new energy vehicles and robots are appearing on UAE streets," she said, adding that over 300,000 Chinese nationals now live and work in the country.

Mohammad Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS Research & Advisory, praised China's advancements in AI and robotics, saying that the country's development experience offers valuable lessons. He expressed interest in deeper collaboration on digital economy, green energy and multilateral trade.

Panelists from the banking and energy sectors agreed that China-UAE cooperation – spanning traditional energy, advanced manufacturing and digital sectors – sets a regional benchmark. They emphasized the value of tapping into economic "certainty" to navigate global uncertainty.
