China beats Bangladesh 2-0 in Group A at AFC U20 Women's Asian Cup
المصدر: CGTN EN | Source: CGTN ENChina secured back-to-back victories at the AFC U20 Women's Asian Cup with a 2-0 win over Bangladesh in Group A on Saturday at Nonthaburi Stadium in Thailand.
Up against tournament debutant Bangladesh, China controlled possession in the first half but found it difficult to turn dominance into clear-cut chances. Wang Aifang came closest with a free kick that rattled the crossbar, while Yu Xingyue missed a one-on-one opportunity, as the two sides went into the break goalless.
China broke the deadlock just two minutes after halftime. Zeng Yujia surged down the right flank and delivered a precise cross for Yu to finish, giving her side a deserved lead in the 47th minute.
Wang then sealed the result late on, curling in a powerful free kick in the 82nd minute to put the game beyond doubt.
The victory followed China's 3-0 win over Vietnam in the opening match on Wednesday, leaving China well placed ahead of the final group match against host Thailand on April 7.
The tournament features 12 teams divided into three groups, with the top two from each group and the two best third-placed sides advancing to the knockout stage. The top four finishers will qualify for the FIFA U20 Women's World Cup in Poland.
