Portekiz Rallisi'nde Türk bayrağını kürsünün en üst basamağına taşıyan Ali Türkkan ve Oytun Albayrak ikilisi, Hırvatistan zaferinin ardından Portekiz'de de zirveyi bırakmadı. Portekiz'in Porto, Lousa ve Arganil bölgelerinde 23 etap boyunca süren mücadelede, özellikle değişken hava koşullarına rağmen üstün bir performans sergileyen ikili, kariyerlerinin üçüncü Dünya Gençler Ralli Şampiyonası'nın (JWRC) zaferine imza attı. Yaşanan teknik aksaklığa rağmen pes etmeyen sporcular, son gün gösterdikleri atakla Junior WRC kategorisinde birinciliğe ulaşmayı başardı. 5 yarıştan oluşan takvimin kritik virajlarını başarıyla dönen Castrol Ford Team Türkiye, eylülde Şili Rallisi ile noktalanacak olan şampiyonada Türkiye'ye ilk "dünya şampiyonluğu" unvanını kazandırmayı hedefliyor. Castrol Ford Team Türkiye Pilotu Ali Türkkan, karşılama töreninde AA muhabirine yaptığı açıklamada, Portekiz'in takvimin en zorlu parkurlarından biri olduğunu belirterek, zorluklara hazırlıklı olduklarını ve kendileri için sürpriz olmadığını söyledi. Ralli'nin uzun bir spor olduğunu ve liderliğin bir ara kaybedilmiş olsa da pazar günü yeni bir stratejiyle tempolarını bulduklarına dikkati çeken Türkkan, şöyle devam etti: "Bizim başımıza gelen şanssızlıklar rakiplerin de başına gelebilirdi, nitekim şanssızlıklar eşit dağılınca kazanan taraf biz olduk. Bir Türk ekibi olarak orada İstiklal Marşımızı dinletmek ve Türklerin de bu sporda var olduğunu göstermek bizim için en büyük gurur. Bu başarı, Türkiye'nin spor alanındaki marka değerine ciddi bir katkıdır." Castrol Ford Team Türkiye Co-Pilotu Oytun Albayrak da 2025'te Portekiz'de yaşadıkları talihsizliklerin ardından bu sene büyük bir motivasyonla yarışa asıldıklarını dile getirerek, şunları kaydetti: "Geçen seneden kalan kötü anıları silmek için 'güzel hazırlanırsak şeytanın bacağını kırarız' demiştik ve öyle de oldu. Teknik aksaklıklara rağmen heyecanın hiç düşmediği bir yarışı geride bıraktık. Motor sporları gibi branşların medyada daha fazla yer bulması, bu gururu 80 milyonla daha güçlü paylaşmamızı sağlar." Castrol Ford Team Türkiye Takım Direktörü Murat Bostancı da Hırvatistan'ın ardından Portekiz'de de galip gelerek üst üste ikinci zaferlerini elde ettiklerini hatırlattı. Bostancı, şu anda Ali Türkkan'ın liderle puan farkını iki puana indirdiği bilgisini paylaşarak, "Önümüzde Finlandiya ve sezon finali olan Şili var. Hedefimiz ralli branşında Türkiye'ye ilk dünya şampiyonluğunu getirmek. Birkaç yıl öncesine kadar burada yer almak hayalken, bugün yüzde 100 Türk bir ekiple (pilot, co-pilot ve teknik ekip) sınıfları domine eden bir takım haline geldik." şeklinde konuştu.
