According to the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in Phnom Penh, the Cambodian Telecommunication Authority (TRC) has urged citizens to be wary of scammers offering “protection” services for social media accounts or networks in exchange for fees. TRC stated that scammers often advertise their services on social media, promising that users’ accounts and social media pages will not be locked, deleted, or compromised. Many even impersonate direct connections to the platform operators or possess special technical tools to create an image of credibility. Their goal is to exploit users’ fears to profit financially or collect sensitive data, including passwords, OTP codes, and administrator privileges. TRC warns that complying with these requests may result in permanent account loss, asset misappropriation, or identity theft for fraudulent purposes. TRC advises users to absolutely not pay for security services, not share passwords or OTP codes, and not grant administrator privileges to strangers. Additionally, users should avoid clicking on suspicious links, ensure two-factor authentication is enabled, and only grant administrator privileges to those they truly trust.   .post__content img .post__content img
