Britain's shocking milestone of 200,000 migrant Channel crossings marked in new video game

A controversial new video game based on illegal migrants crossing the English Channel has been launched to mark 200,000 making the journey since 2018.

Asylum Seekers, based on the classic Crossy Road arcade machines, sees players attempting to make it from Calais to Dover - and rewarded with a new crypto currency token named 'Benefits' for reaching milestones along the way by using life rafts, small boats and dodging high speed trains.

The simple game has already attracted thousands of users as Britons become increasingly frustrated by the unchecked crossings which this week were revealed to have reached 200,000 people arriving in the UK illegally.

The game's creators say the tongue-in-cheek project aims to highlight the injustice of illegal migrants being given taxpayer funded handouts after arriving in the UK - which total in excess of £4billion over the last year alone to 106,000 asylum seekers.

Players will then be able to cash in the tokens earned within the game, which could potentially rocket in value as more users take part - in what backers say will redress the inbalance.

In a message on the app, gamers are told: "Unlike the current system, Asylum Seekers is here to distribute $BENEFITS to all.

"Whether you're a lawyer, doctor, engineer, or simply popping over to claim the self-deportation bonus."

The shocking 200,000 people milestone was revealed by GB News earlier this week - with the grim tally reached as 70 more illegal migrants were intercepted by Border Force officers at Dover Harbour on Thursday.

The group had made the crossing in a dinghy launched from a beach near Dunkirk at around 7.30am.

The People's Channel obtained social media video one migrant posted live as they set off from the shores of northern France on the journey across the Channel.

Just after 10am they reached UK waters and were picked up by the Border Force vessel Ranger.

This latest arrival took the number known to have crossed the Channel since 2018 to 200,013.

Perhaps most alarming is the rapidly growing number of crossings, which eight years ago stood at just 299 - but 2021 was 28,526, mostly young male migrants, and by last year had risen further to 41,472.

A Home Office spokesman said: “This Government is bearing down on small boat crossings.

"The Home Secretary has signed a landmark new deal with France to boost enforcement action on beaches and put people smugglers behind bars.

"This builds on joint work that has stopped over 42,000 illegal migrants attempting to cross the channel since the election.

“We have removed or deported almost 60,000 people who were here illegally and are going further to remove the incentives that draw illegal migrants to this country.”
