Brahim Diaz Reaches 100 La Liga Matches with Real Madrid
Rabat – Moroccan international Brahim Diaz marked a major milestone on Friday, reaching 100 La Liga appearances for Real Madrid during the 1-1 draw against Girona in round 31 of the Spanish league.
Diaz started the match and played a key role in Real Madrid’s opening goal. He provided the assist that gave Madrid the lead through Federico Valverde in the 51st minute.
Girona later equalized, but the night still carried special meaning for Díaz, who has now joined the list of players with 100 league appearances for the club.
This achievement comes just days after Diaz reached another landmark in Europe. He played his 50th Champions League match, becoming only the second Moroccan to hit that number, after Achraf Hakimi, who has 73 appearances in the competition.
The 26-year-old has become a regular figure in Madrid’s squad. This season alone, he has played in 33 matches across all competitions, contributing one goal and six assists.
His versatility allows him to operate both as an attacking midfielder and a winger, giving coach Arbeloa tactical flexibility.
Diaz joined Real Madrid in January 2019 from Manchester City, where he had come through the youth system. Madrid paid around $17 million for the young talent, seeing him as a long‑term project.
His early years with Real Madrid were marked by limited opportunities, and he spent three seasons on loan at AC Milan between 2020 and 2023. That spell in Italy helped him mature, as he played over 120 matches for Milan and gained valuable Champions League experience.
Since returning to Madrid in the summer of 2023, Diaz has gradually earned more minutes. His creativity, close control, and ability to link play have made him a useful option in Ancelotti’s rotation.
Diaz has now played more than 150 matches, scoring 15 goals and providing over 20 assists across all competitions with Madrid.
