ALBAWABA - Chinese developer Game Science took the internet by storm after unveiling a new 15-minute gameplay trailer for Black Myth: Zhong Kui, the second title in the Black Myth series following the success of Wukong.
The impressive trailer showcased a first look into the game's combat, a glimpse of the story, and stunning visuals. However, Game Science confirmed that the game "is still in early development, all footage was captured in-game from a work-in-progress build running at a 21:9 aspect ratio. The final release may differ."
Black Myth: Zhong Kui receives 15 minutes of gameplay
While the first game told the story of Wukong's Journey to the West, this title will follow Zhong Kui, a Chinese mythological deity best known as the "King of Ghosts," who hunts down ghosts and demons.
According to the China Morning Post, many people to this day hang a photo of Zhong Kui in their homes as a form of protection.
Kui was a mortal yet renowned scholar. However, due to his scruffy appearance, the emperor stripped him of his achievements, prompting the mythological deity to commit suicide. In response, the Underworld Judge saw great potential in Zhong Kui and crowned him as the King of Ghosts.
Reactions flooded social media:
"If they never released Wukong before this, people would think this is fake."
"Never in my life I’ve expected to see a 15 mins trailer for this game in this time of the year. GOD DAMN IT LOOKS SO GREAT. Game Science do be cooking back to back masterpieces."
