Ben Leo has unleashed a furious attack on new Home Office guidance for asylum seekers, which sets out British laws surrounding rape, child sexual abuse and domestic violence.

The Government has published a collection of resources titled 'Understanding behaviours and expectations in the UK: a guide for asylum seekers, explaining laws and customs that officials say may differ from those in migrants' countries of origin.

Taking to Instagram, the People's Channel presenter blasted the decision to produce the guidance, questioning why officials felt it necessary to explicitly explain crimes including rape.

"Illegal migrants are now being warned by the UK Government that being a rapist, a paedophile, a n***e or a wife-beater isn't allowed in the United Kingdom, surprise surprise," he began.

"If it wasn't so serious, it would be hilariously laughable," Ben continued, pointing to sections explaining that women can earn their own money, cannot be forced into marriage, and must consent to sex.

The guidance describes consent and explains that sex without consent constitutes rape, including when somebody is asleep, drunk, or has previously consented before changing their mind.

It also warns that sexual activity with children under the age of 16 is illegal, while separate material addresses domestic abuse, female genital mutilation and gender equality.

Ben questioned why such information needed to be spelt out, before turning his attention to the Government's wider asylum policy.

Home Office guidance

"Just think about the severity of this, how big the problem must be that the Government itself, the Home Office, is having to dish these leaflets out to people crossing the border into the UK," he said.

He then argued asylum seekers should instead be detained while their applications are processed, declaring: "They should be detained in secure sites where they are not allowed to leave, before they have their asylum applications processed and ideally deported."

The Late Show Live presenter went on to claim those arriving illegally "do not share our values", citing attitudes towards women, sex and what he described as "normal Western societal norms".

He concluded: "The whole thing is a disastrous, dangerous joke."

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

In a caption accompanying the video, Ben questioned why asylum seekers were "allowed to roam the streets of Britain freely", adding that they should be "detained upon arrival and then deported".

His intervention sparked a wave of supportive responses from followers, with one writing: "I can't stand this anymore. Things can't get any worse."

Another declared: "This is an admission that we are not safe. They have to be detained and then deported asap!!!" (sic)

"We are not safe... protect our women and children," a third wrote, while another branded the situation "absolutely shocking".

GB News contributor Adam Brooks also responded with three clapping emojis.

The Home Office guidance states that breaking UK laws could result in consequences including imprisonment, losing asylum support or accommodation, and potentially affecting an asylum claim.

It also tells arrivals that women in Britain can work, study and travel freely without requiring permission from a man.

Home Office guidance

Defending the resources, a Home Office spokesperson previously told GB News: "We expect everyone who comes to the UK to abide by our laws.

"If they do not, they will face consequences, including the refusal of their asylum claim and removal from the UK.

"Returns of failed asylum seekers have reached their highest level since 2010 under this Government."
