Luisa Zissman has sparked controversy after revealing the reason why she decided not to attend her daughter's school production of Mary Poppins.

The 39-year-old podcast host and content creator made the admission during an episode of her Luanna podcast, which she co-hosts with Anna Williamson.

Ms Zissman, a mother of three daughters, Dixie, 16, Indigo, nine, and Clementine, eight, defended her choice by citing work pressures and the fact her daughter had been given what she described as a "s***ty ensemble part" with no speaking lines.

During the podcast, Ms Zissman explained her reasoning while laughing, stating that the school venue lacked air conditioning and attending would have been too stressful given her packed schedule.

"I had a conference call from 8 until half 9 and then we have to record the pod and then I have more content to film," she said.

The businesswoman added =her nanny had attended in her place and reported back the performance was not worth the effort, describing how her daughter simply "sings in a s***ty bonnet" in sweltering conditions.

Ms Zissman went further, declaring she would only make the effort to attend school performances if her child had secured a leading role, stating: "I'm not interested in going to see her unless she's got a main part."

The podcast host also revealed this was not an isolated incident, admitting she had previously skipped her other daughter Clementine's woodwind recital because she dislikes the sound of the instrument.

Her candid remarks left co-host Ms Williamson in fits of laughter but quickly divided opinion among listeners and social media users who heard the episode.

The revelation prompted a wave of criticism on social media, with many fans taking issue with Ms Zissman's attitude.

One commenter wrote: "It's not always about you seeing her, but everything about HER seeing you! Totally understand it's not always possible for workers, but it's the attitude here that stinks."

Another shared their own experience of missing a child's performance, describing "the heartbreak on her face" despite working more than 60 hours weekly.

"Looking back now as an adult, one thing I’ll never stop being grateful for is that at least one of my parents (and often both) came to every awards ceremony, parents’ evening, school play and drama shows," penned another critic.

Someone else said: "I’m no contact with my Mum and these are the sort of decisions she would make. Me me me."

A fifth person labelled Ms Zissman an "awful mum".

However, Love Island series one winner Cara Delahoyde came to Ms Zissman's defence, commenting: "I'm glad someone said this... You say what everyone else is thinking. This is so me, mumma's got s**t to do."

"This is so me. " Mumma's got s**t to do," someone else commented.

The backlash comes just months after Ms Zissman was criticised for describing herself as being in her "refugee era" after temporarily returning to the UK from Dubai for work.

Sharing a video from central London, the former Apprentice finalist told followers she was "displaced from my home" and admitted she felt paranoid that someone would steal her phone while walking through the capital.

Her comments prompted accusations that she was "out of touch", with critics arguing her use of the term "refugee" was insensitive.

Ms Zissman had travelled back to Britain to record her Luanna podcast after temporarily leaving Dubai, where she had been living with her husband and two of her daughters during heightened tensions in the Middle East.

Despite missile strikes affecting the region, she repeatedly defended the UAE, previously describing it as "the safest country in the world" and insisting she had confidence in its security measures.
