By EMMA RICHTER, US SENIOR NEWS REPORTER and JACK TOLEDO Published: 18:19, 14 July 2026 | Updated: 18:19, 14 July 2026 A baby-faced teenager accused of fatally shooting her mother and stepdad inside the family's Georgia home stared blankly ahead at a recent court hearing.  Sarah Grace Patrick, 18, appeared emotionless as she looked toward the judge's bench on Monday while her lawyer, Shawn Hoover, fought for a delayed start to her upcoming trial after claiming a 'rogue' officer came forward with groundbreaking evidence.  Patrick was arrested in July 2025 after she allegedly shot her mother, Kristin Brock, 41, and her stepfather, James Brock, 45, dead while they slept inside their home in Carrollton - about 50 minutes outside of Atlanta - on February 20, 2025.  Patrick, who was 17 at the time of the shootings, was set to attend the first day of her murder trial on August 3, but Hoover has since claimed that new information has come to light that needs time to be processed. As her attorney argued that the defense had an issue with the cops involved in the case, Patrick stared coldly inside the courtroom.  She wore her long hair down, with some of it tucked behind her ears. However, prosecutors for the state denied the accusation that an officer went rogue and said that a cop tested a gun to see if it was involved in the case, but found that it wasn't. The judge overseeing the case is reviewing the request to delay the trial and said they will come to a decision by Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday. Patrick is being tried as an adult, and Hoover claimed that 'more needs to be done so I can adequately protect Ms. Patrick's interests moving forward.' Before Patrick's arrest – which cops said was sparked by 'a mountain' of digital and physical evidence – the high school graduate curated a chilling portrait of grief on social media and even contacted TikTok true crime creators for help in 'solving' her parents' brutal murder. Although Patrick has yet to enter a formal plea in court, she is understood to deny the charges and has protested her innocence through her family members and her lawyer. For months, Patrick played the grieving daughter who was coping with an unimaginable loss, delivering a tearful eulogy at the funeral and sharing heartbreaking TikTok videos about her slain parents. Cops and loved ones of the victims said Patrick's tearful eulogy made them suspicious, but her supporters say it was a natural reaction to her grief. Her demeanor in court seemingly resembled how Patrick acted about a month after her parents died.  She arrived at court for her bond hearing in August 2025, appearing as though she didn't have a care in the world, and smiling broadly, exclusive photos snapped by the Daily Mail showed.  It was the first time she was spotted since her arrest on July 9 last year.  She was seen arriving at the Carroll County Superior Court after getting out of a police cruiser, wearing a neon green prison-issued jumpsuit with her wrists in chains.  The teenager, her hair pulled back in a tidy braid, smiled and laughed with another young inmate in an orange jumpsuit, clutching a yellow folder as they waited to be called into the courtroom.  In the months after the killings, Patrick had posted numerous TikToks about the murders and shared selfies of herself mourning her parents, including one on her way to their funeral and another of her crying into her mother's clothing Patrick is previously pictured walking into court before she was denied bail in August 2025 But as the teen sat beside her then-lawyer, public defender Latoya Williams, her facial expression crumpled several times as she anxiously waited to learn if supportive witness testimonies from her family and friends would convince Judge Dustin Hightower to release her on bond to the care of her loved ones, who sat just feet behind her. Her bail request was ultimately denied.  Patrick has been held in custody since her arrest, where she spends the majority of her time in solitary confinement, according to Court TV.  If convicted, she faces life behind bars.
