Baby boy left black and blue after his first morning at Oklahoma day care, with cops now investigating

Randilyn Votra said she immediately noticed her 11-month-old son was agitated when she picked him up from The Clubhouse Childcare Center in Holdenville on August 10. But what came next was something she never expected.  'On the floor crying and visibly upset, and when he faced me, my heart sunk. I saw his face,' she told KOCO News.  'He had a big knot on the forehead area. He had a big ol' welt and bruise across his cheek,' Votra added.  She claimed staff told her nobody could explain the bruises and marks on her child's face.  'They said they didn’t know what was wrong with him, and his teacher had already left for the day,' she recalled.  Votra immediately reached out to the owner of the day care, who told the worried mother that an unnamed male teacher who was looking after her son claimed the boy hurt himself.  Randilyn Votra found her son's face covered in black-and-blue marks when she went to pick him up from his first day at The Clubhouse Childcare Center in Holdenville, Oklahoma, on August 10 She rushed her 11-month-old son to a hospital, where medical professionals confirmed that his injuries were not consistent with a simple fall, as she claims the day care owner had told her  'She said she texted the daycare worker, and she stated he simply just fell, and he's clumsy, and that was that,' Votra shared.  But Votra wasn't convinced and took her son to the hospital, where doctors confirmed that his injuries were not the result of a fall.  Medical staff then reported their findings to the Holdenville Police Department, which is now probing the day care over the incident, the outlet reported.  The agency also said they have submitted an arrest warrant for the teacher allegedly responsible for the boy's injuries through the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Lighthorse Police Department. The Holdenville Police Department has a 'cross-commission' with the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Lighthorse Police Department, which allows officers to file criminal charges against Native Americans who commit crimes within city limits, according to the agency.  It is unclear if an arrest has been made as of Tuesday afternoon.  Additionally, the State Department of Human Services is also involved in the ongoing investigation.  Votra said her son has not been himself ever since and that he now 'flinches' when people approach him The agency said the child care center has been shut down since the accusations came to light.  'The Clubhouse voluntarily ceased operations effective August 14, 2026, and is not currently operating.  'The concerns remain under investigation. Based upon the findings, Oklahoma Human Services will determine whether further regulatory action, including license revocation proceedings, is warranted,' a representative with the agency told the outlet.  Meanwhile, Votra said her son has not been himself ever since.  'He's still scared. He flinches when people walk up to him. He's just not the same baby as he was before I dropped him off,' she said.  The Daily Mail approached The Clubhouse Childcare Center, the Holdenville Police Department, and the State Department of Human Services for comment.
