أعلنت الخارجية الروسية الاثنين أن الوزير سيرغي لافروف تلقى اتصالا هاتفيا بنظيره الإيراني عباس عراقجي، بعيد حديث الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب عن مباحثات مع طهران في ظل الحرب المتواصلة منذ أكثر من ثلاثة أسابيع. وقالت الوزارة إن لافروف دعا الى “وقف فوري للأعمال العدائية وتسوية سياسية تأخذ في الاعتبار المصالح المشروعة لكل الأطراف المعنية، وبالدرجة الأولى إيران”، مشيرة الى أن عراقجي هو من بادر للاتصال بنظيره الروسي.
