The pair were both absent from the start of the open training session attended by the media, but have been declared fit and available for the decider, with the sides level on aggregate after last week’s draw. “They’re both available, and in the squad,” said Arteta in a press conference held at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium on Monday. “It’s great, because we need options. We need the capacity to play different games tomorrow — whether it’s from the start or after — so it’s really, really good news for us to have them both back.” The head coach called upon his Arsenal players to become “beasts” to defeat the visiting side, issuing a rallying cry to his team. “Go out there like beasts to enjoy the moment and go for it,” Arteta said. The Spaniard also confirmed that defender Jurrien Timber is still sidelined with what is understood to be a groin injury. After a 1-1 draw in Madrid, the tie is finely poised ahead of the second leg. Arsenal have an opportunity to reach a second Champions League final in their history, 20 years on from the first — and Arteta has urged the team to seize it. “Go and grab it,” Arteta said. “When you are in front of such an opportunity, it means that you are ready to deliver. And the team is going to go from the first minute to go and get that.” Arsenal supporters will gather outside the Armoury club shop at 17:45 to welcome the team bus. Before kick-off, a huge tifo will be unveiled from the roof of the East Stand. “I can’t wait,” said Arteta. “I feel the energy in and amongst the team, our supporters. This is the moment that we want to live together. We have done a lot of work as a club, as a team, after 20 years to be in this position again. And we are so hungry to get the game that we want tomorrow, and go through to that final.” The winner of Tuesday’s second leg will face one of Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, who meet in the opposite semi-final on Wednesday.
