Officers from Greater Manchester Police (GMP) attempted to stop the motorist on Bury New Road in Whitefield, Bury, at around 3pm today. The force said 'the car failed to stop and drove directly at our officers to get away', and in response, a shot was fired by a firearms officer. The driver of the car was taken to the hospital for an injury to his arm, which has been described as neither life-threatening nor life-changing. Forensic officers have been pictured attending the scene, where a white car with a broken is boxed in by other unmarked cars behind a police cordon. No officers were injured in the incident and investigations are ongoing, police said. A 20-year-old white British man has been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs. GMP said the incident has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct 'as per standard procedure'.
