Armed cops swarm street and yell 'get inside' as man on roof 'covered in blood'

Armed police have swarmed a street in a Merseyside town after a man was seen "behaving erratically" and appearing to be "injured". Emergency services were called to Marmion Avenue in Bootle at around 4.45pm on Wednesday following a report of concern for the safety of a man. The man was sitting on what appeared to be a shed roof and appeared to have blood on him, according to a Liverpool Echo reporter at the scene. By around 8pm, he had safely come down and was in the care of emergency services. A spokesperson for Merseyside Police earlier said: "Emergency services are currently at an address in Bootle following reports of a male acting erratically. We received a report of a concern for safety at around 4.45pm in relation to a man who was injured and behaving erratically on Marmion Avenue. "There is currently a cordon in place while officers attempt to speak to the male and motorists and pedestrians are advised to avoid the road while the matter is being dealt with." Witnesses said multiple fire engines, three police vans, multiple police cars, ambulance crews and incident response units were at the scene. One neighbour said more than a dozen armed police officers told them to go back inside. They told the Liverpool Echo: "I came out of my house and around 10 to 15 armed police officers yelled at me to get in. I was like 'what is going on'? I’ve never seen so many police in my life."
