Are DDR5 RAM prices down? Reports reveal first drop in months

ALBAWABA - RAM prices recently sparked concern and chaos among tech enthusiasts after a sharp increase driven by massive demand for AI infrastructure, affecting prices in PC and console gaming. 

However, reports indicate that things have taken a turn for the better with claims that Google’s TurboQuant is behind it. According to Wccftech, Corsair Vengeance RAM sticks dropped in price from online vendors such as Amazon and Newegg.

Several "CORSAIR Vengeance RGB DDR5 RAM" models saw price drops of $40 to $100. For example, a 32 GB kit went down from $409.99 to $369.99. Another one dropped from $505.99 to $369.99. While there's a noticeable drop in Corsair kits, prices of sticks from other vendors remain flat.

Corsair Vengeance 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MHz kits are now available for around 370 dollars on major retailers like Amazon and Newegg, down from previous levels by 40 to 100 dollars in some cases.

How does Google’s TurboQuant impact RAM prices? 

TurboQuant is Google's all-new KV cache compression algorithm that claims to reduce memory requirements in AI workloads by up to six times, as reported by Wccftech. The outlet added further that some RAM prices dropped due to an inventory sell-off after TurboQuant's reveal earlier this month. 

While some RAM sticks saw a noticeable drop in prices via Amazon and Newegg, the cost remains high for many consumers in the market.

DDR5 RAM prices were significantly lower before the AI boom occurred, since a DDR5 32 GB kit used to cost PC enthusiasts and builders around $100.

A social media user wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "AI slop bubble is finally popping." 

Another added, "RAM prices are dropping faster than my motivation on Monday. Guess the AI bubble finally popped and left enough sticks for actual humans to build PCs again."
