Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan face serious threats in US jail after their arrests for alleged child sex offences.

They are charged with a total of 59 counts, including rape and human trafficking, and are fighting extradition to the UK.

The brothers deny all wrongdoing and their lawyers are seeking necessary documents to apply for bail ahead of a hearing on August 5.

Published: 13:54, 28 July 2026 | Updated: 13:56, 28 July 2026 Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan 'have a target on their backs' as the public wish for them to be killed in jail following their arrests over alleged child sex offences. The brothers were taken into custody by US Marshals last week and are facing a combined 59 charges, including rape and human trafficking. Speaking after a hearing on Monday, their lawyer Joe McBride said the pair are under threat of being 'stabbed, jumped and murdered'. He added: 'The public is green-lighting for them to get murdered in jail.  'When inmates walk by their cell they get called a word that starts with a 'P' that's more appropriate to [Jeffrey] Epstein and not to them. 'They have a target on their back that's very, very real.' Pending charges accuse Andrew, 39, and Tristan, 37, of abusing women between July 2010 and August 2017, and the UK's Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) is seeking to have the pair extradited. Andrew faces seven further counts of rape, three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and 19 additional charges for offences relating to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography. Andrew Tate, left, and his brother Tristan were arrested on an extradition request from the UK, where they are facing a combined 59 charges, including rape and human trafficking  Andrew and Tristan Tate at the UFC 313 mixed martial arts event in Las Vegas in March 2025 Tristan is being charged with one count of sexual assault, two counts of rape and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation. The brothers have strongly denied any wrongdoing. Their lawyers have said they want the US government to turn over documents that UK officials submitted to secure the extradition and say without these they cannot apply for bail.  The UK have until September 16 to provide the paperwork and defence lawyers have said they plan to file a motion for the pair's release on August 5. The Tates are dual US and British citizens who moved to Romania in 2016. The former professional kickboxers have amassed a following of millions of fans, particularly young men and boys, by professing a lifestyle of luxury and unapologetic misogyny. Andrew has amassed over ten million followers on X, but has been banned from platforms such as YouTube, TikTok and Instagram for violating hate speech guidelines. His most widely condemned rhetoric includes comments that women who are sexually assaulted should bear some responsibility for their attacks, graphic descriptions of how he might abuse women and criticisms of people who seek medical treatment for mental illness. The controversial manosphere influencers were also charged in Romania in 2022 with offences which involve having sex with a minor, trafficking minors, money laundering and running an organised crime operation. The brothers have denied the allegations.  Andrew Tate speaks to the media in Romania in August 2023. The Tates have denied any wrongdoing His fellow defence lawyer Jackie Perczek refuted claims that the brothers were a flight risk and noted they did not flee once while awaiting trial in Romania. She said: 'For three years they haven't fled, for three years they have travelled the world — Russia, Hong Kong, Turkey, Dubai — and every month they get on a plane and they return to Romania.  'So to file a motion in this court at the request of the UK and say there's an 'emergency' because these guys are going to flee is false.' Hours before Andrew's arrest, he made a taunting post on X alluding to criminal charges he is additionally facing in Romania. 'The prosecutor reads every single tweet I make. They're all corrupt. Hello Dicott please raid the house,' he wrote, referencing DIICOT, Romania's Directorate for Investigating Organised Crime and Terrorism.' Posting on behalf of Andrew, his associates have taken to X to complain about the prison conditions. The posts state he has 'nothing clean to drink' and could only source water from the shower and a 'brown and filthy faucet' that has 'given me persistent stomach problems'. The inmate in the cell next to him was a 'cannibal who screams throughout the night' and peeled paint chips off the wall to eat, he claimed. 'The worst possible conditions the US gov provides to terrorists and psychopaths … I am an American citizen. WHY AM I HERE?.' one of the posts said.
