أعلن المبعوث الأمريكي، ستيف ويتكوف، اليوم الخميس، أن الولايات المتحدة سلمت إيران "قائمة عمل من 15 بنداً" لتشكل أساساً محتملًا للمفاوضات الرامية لإنهاء الصراع القائم، مؤكداً وجود دلائل على اهتمام طهران بإبرام اتفاق.

وخلال اجتماع لمجلس الوزراء في البيت الأبيض، قال ويتكوف إن المحادثات قد تنجح إذا أدرك الإيرانيون عدم وجود بدائل مناسبة، مضيفاً أن طهران ربما بدأت تفهم هذا الواقع.

وتطرق المبعوث الأمريكي إلى أن الهدف من هذه الخطوة هو دفع إيران نحو التوصل إلى اتفاق يحد من التصعيد ويجنب المزيد من الخسائر، موضحاً للصحفيين: "سنرى إلى أين ستؤول الأمور، وما إذا كان بإمكاننا إقناع إيران بأن هذه هي نقطة التحول الحاسمة، وأن أمامها خيارات محدودة، سوى المزيد من الموت والدمار".

وأكد ويتكوف أن هناك مؤشرات قوية على إمكانية نجاح هذا المسار، مشيراً إلى أن باكستان لعبت دور الوسيط في تسهيل التواصل، بما يتوافق مع تصريحات مسؤولين باكستانيين سابقين.
