كانت هذه القرية، حتى سنوات قليلة مضت، غير معروفة إلا لأبنائها والقرى المجاورة، أما اليوم، فقد أصبحت واحدة من أشهر قرى مصر، بعدما حقق ابنها محمد صلاح شهرة عالمية وضعته بين أبرز لاعبي كرة القدم في العالم.
