Why is filming at incident sites dangerous?
Abu Dhabi's emergencies, crises, and disasters management centre has warned that filming incidents can be dangerous and disruptive.
It can hinder emergency responders, increase congestion, distract drivers, and put both bystanders and the person filming at risk.
It may also violate the privacy of those affected, spread inaccurate or distressing information, and reveal sensitive details before authorities complete their work.
Citizens are urged to prioritise safety and allow emergency teams to manage the scene without interference.
How do you protect yourself from rumours and misinformation?
Authorities advise verifying the source before believing or sharing any news.
Always rely on official channels for updates, and avoid spreading unconfirmed information, no matter how urgent it may seem.
The authority also strongly advises residents to be cautious of sensational headlines designed to provoke fear or anxiety and report any accounts or content that share misleading information to the relevant authorities.
During emergencies, residents are advised to rely on official channels and steer clear of unverified or unofficial sources.
Some of the sources they shared are:

How to take care of children during emergencies?
Strengthen their sense of safety
Authorities advise reassuring children that they are safe and that the relevant authorities are actively working to protect everyone.
Show care and support by staying close, and speak in a calm, confident tone that helps them feel secure and reassured.
Listen to their feelings
Authorities advise paying close attention to children’s questions and recognising their feelings.
It’s important to give them space to express themselves freely, without interruptions, while offering explanations that are simple, clear, and suitable for their age.
Showing understanding of their worries and encouraging open conversations about their emotions can help them feel supported and reassured, the guide ensured.
Limit exposure to distressing news
The guide also stressed that it's important to minimise children’s exposure to news or images that could cause anxiety.
Authorities also emphasised that children should receive information only from official, reliable sources and encouraged parents to maintain a calm and reassuring home environment to help them feel safe and supported.
Handling pets during the current situation
Authorities advise keeping pets indoors in a safe and secure spot, with sufficient food, water, and essential medications to last several days. They also stress keeping pets away from unfamiliar objects or areas affected by any incident that occurs.
It is recommended to prepare a safe carrier or transport method in case relocation becomes necessary. If you are unable to care for your pet or come across an abandoned animal, authorities advise contacting the Department of Municipalities and Transport at 993 for assistance.
