A six-minute nightmare: Porto's Fernandes scores bizarre own goal then is subbed off with injury

Martim Fernandes had a short but eventful appearance for Porto in the Europa League on Thursday night as he scored a bizarre own goal before shortly after having to leave the pitch with an injury. The Porto fans were still celebrating seeing their side take the lead at the Estadio Dragao in the Europa League quarter-final first leg against Nottingham Forest when the majority of the 50,000-capacity stadium was stunned into silence. Even the 3,000 or so Forest fans high up in the stands took a second to register what they had just witnessed. The Portuguese side had gone 1-0 up in the 11th minute when William Gomes tapped home a cross from Gabri Veiga, to complete a flowing move down the left side of the pitch. But then came a short period that turned the evening for Fernandes.
