2026 World Cup Security: Morocco Part of IPCC, Not White House Task Force
Rabat – A senior US administration official has reiterated Morocco’s position as a strong and strategic security partner for Washington, especially in leading efforts to ensure the success of the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup and World Cup competitions.
The US official source, however, stated that the White House Task Force on the World Cup is “comprised only of U.S. government agencies.”
The statement came a few days ago after a now-deleted US embassy social post congratulated Morocco on being selected as part of the White House Task Force to strengthen security collaboration for the upcoming World Cup.
“As we look forward to celebrating 250 years of friendship with Morocco, this is another opportunity to further strengthen our security cooperation and share our love of sports,” the embassy wrote on social media.
In a new statement, a US administration source emphasized the importance of police cooperation as an essential pillar in ensuring a safe and secure tournament, recalling the US invitation to international law enforcement partners in Morocco to participate in the International Police Cooperation Center (IPCC) during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, rather than the White House Task Force, as initially announced by the US embassy.
The center is a multi-agency coordination hub established to facilitate international police collaboration during major international events, ensuring unified situational awareness, coordinated risk mitigation, and international cooperation.
“Established by the U.S. government, the IPCC is where law enforcement representatives from each of the qualified countries, along with law enforcement representatives from all the individual game-hosting cities, will meet and share information for the duration of the tournament,” the US administration source said.
The same source concluded the statement by referring to the 250-year relationship with Morocco.
“We look forward to their participation in the IPCC to strengthen global police cooperation during the FIFA World Cup,” the statement concluded.
